THE RAID – Advance Screening
Thanks to MADMAN Entertainment, PlusSixOne was invited to attend the advance screening of the Indonesian action flick – THE RAID.
The Raid an action packed, and when we mean action, it’s intense and dynamic action, not bad for a low-budget Indonesian film written and directed by Gareth Evans. Staring Iko Uwais, he plays a rookie SWAT operator on a secret mission to take down a criminal kingpin who lives in the top floors of a block of apartments. The apartment is sanctuary for all types of scum, drug addicts and thugs all under the influence of this godfather that lives upstairs. When the SWAT team arrives this hoodlums and lowlifes gets rattled and comes out of the woodwork. The SWAT team gets locked in the complex and left with nothing else but to fight their way out, any which way they can. This leads to an array of brutal and unique action sequences that barely stops. When firearms ran out of bullets, the cops resort to more hand to hand type of action routine, heads are cracked, broken necks, body parts ripped out, and every punch, kick and stab is let loose with intensity and attitude. It’s basically Die Hard meets Assault On Precint 13 but more violent. We think this is the freshest action movie in years and as we speak there is already plans of a US remake which for sure will be a watered down version.
The Raid is released nation wide March 22, 2012.

Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper’s fiancée; Alexander Skarsgård as Hopper’s older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper’s crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone’s superior (and Sam’s father), Admiral Shane.
Berg directs this epic action-adventure also produced by Scott Stuber (Couples Retreat), Sarah Aubrey (The Kingdom), Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir of Hasbro (the Transformers franchise), along with Duncan Henderson (Master and Commander) and Jeffrey Silver (300). The film is written by Jon Hoeber & Erich Hoeber (Red). The battle for Earth begins at sea.

What better excuse to take a look back at this beloved musical format? As recorded sound continues its love affair with the downloadable, ethereal digital file, the tangible artefact is quickly becoming a thing of the past.
